Q

What are electrochemical cells?

A

They convert chemical energy into electrical energy stored in charges. They are commonly stored in batteries. In a battery they separate the positive and negative charges.

Q

What are terminals?

A

The end points of the battery where we make the connection. Extra electrons accumulate in one of the terminals making it negatively charged. The other terminal lost those three electrons so it becomes positive. When the battery is plugged into the CD player, the electrons flow through the terminals and wires and into the player.

Q

Potential energy

A

Potential energy is stored in an object. The electricity stored inside a battery is called electric potential energy, because the electrons stored have stored energy and the ability to do work after they leave the battery
