Chapter 8 Flashcards
The valve and associated controls that admit the correct amount of feedwater to the boiler to maintain the NOWL under varying steam loads.
Boiler feedwater regulator
An alternating receiver which can be pressurized, using steam, air, or other gas to create condensate flow
Pressure powered pump
A device that is designed to monitor the water level in a boiler and to signal the boiler burner to shut down if the water level drops below the safe water level of the boiler
Low water cut off
A temp. Sensing device that monitors HTUs to prevent its coils from freezing
Freeze stat
A boiler connection return system that utilizes mechanical force to return condensate to the boiler
Mechanical condensate return system
A pump, either mounted externally separate or internally within the condensate receiver to pump condensate water into the boiler
Condensate pump
A steam boiler condensate return system that utilizes a condensate receiver and condensate pump to return condensate water back to the boiler
Condensate return pump system
A condensate return system that utilizes a separate boiler feed pump and condensate reciever to supply water to large steam system boilers or steam systems that have a lag time problem
Boiler feed pump system
A large diameter, normally 8”, section of pipe installed in the boiler equalizing line and used to store condensate return water
External reservoir pipe
A tank that collects the condensate from. Condensate return piping to store from pumped return flow into the boiler
Condensate reciever
