Chapter 7B - Force & Newton's Laws Flashcards
What is the difference between balanced and unbalanced forces?
Balanced forces keep an object in place by canceling each other out. However, unbalanced forces cause an object to move because at least one of the forces isn’t canceled out.
What is force?
A push or pull on an object
Name 4 types of friction.
- Static Friction
- Sliding Friction
- Rolling Friction
- Air Resistance
Newton’s First Law of Motion
“When all forces acting on an object are balanced, the object’s motion does not change.”
Newton’s Second Law of Motion
“When at least one force acting on an object is unbalanced, the object accelerates in the direction if the net force.”
Newton’s Third Law of Motion
“When one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts and equal and opposite force back on the first object.”
