Isthmus
a narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land.
Archipelago
a group of islands.
Escarpment
a long, steep slope, especially one at the edge of a plateau or separating areas of land at different heights.
Llanos
treeless grassy plain.
Pampas
extensive, treeless plains in South America.
Tributary
A river that feeds into another bigger river
Estuary
the tidal mouth of a large river, where the tide meets the stream.
Gasohol
a mixture of gasoline and ethyl alcohol used as fuel in internal combustion engines.
Tropics
the parallel of latitude 23°26ʹ north tropic of Cancer or south tropic of Capricorn of the equator.
Rainforest
a luxuriant, dense forest rich in biodiversity, found typically in tropical areas with consistently heavy rainfall.
Canopy
In forest ecology, canopy also refers to the upper layer or habitat zone, formed by mature tree crowns and including other biological organisms (epiphytes, lianas, arboreal animals, etc.). Sometimes the term canopy is used to refer to the extent of the outer layer of leaves of an individual tree or group of trees.
