Retrograde Amnesia
Loss of memory for events that happened before trauma
Anterograde amnesia
No memory for events that happened after the trauma
Infantile amnesia
You cant remember the events of young childhood
Explicit memory
Ability to consciously remember facts, events, and associations
Episodic memory

Semantic memory
General knowledge, facts, dates
Implicit memory
Memory for learned skills, associations, and habits
Procedural learning
Acquisition of skills and habits
Priming
Perception, response, or thought is enhanced by prior exposure to an identical or related stimulus, action or idea
Serial position curve
Higher memory performance for things at the beginning and end of a list (primary and recency effect)
Memory consolidation
Process of stabilising memories after they are initially formed. Helps reduce forgetting. REM sleep needed
Long term potentiation
Increased activity strengthens synapses connections
