What is computer software and who has the job of producing such software?
A computer software is a set of instructions that are produced by a team of programmers
What is a computer network?
A computer network is two or more computers joined together using cable or wireless signals.
What TWO things can a user do when connected to a network?
Share files such as documents, pictures, music and video files with other users.
Share connected hardware such as printers and hard disk drives with others users.
What are the two main types of computer networks?
Local Area Network (LAN)
Wide Area Network (WAN)
What is the use of LAN?
This type of network will be used within a building like a school, university or office. Nobody outside those areas should be able to use the network unless they are granted permission.
What is the use of WAN?
This type of network will connect cities or even countries together.
The Internet is an example of this type of network.
Which type of network does the INTERNET fall under?
Wide area network
What are the three benefits of any computer network?
Connects cities and countries together, can be used within buildings such as, schools, universities and work places, nobody outside those areas can use it unless giving permission

What is the function of the cloud?
The cloud stores the users data such as: pictures, video, files E.T.C
Cloud computing is the delivery of applications and data backup’s as a service over the Internet rather than on your own computer.
Why is the cloud called the cloud?
It is called ‘the cloud’ because it involves a complex network of servers some of which are located in a different country.
What is one of the free cloud storage service?
Dropbox
What is the use of dropbox?
Dropbox is one of many free cloud hosting services that allow storage and sharing of your files over the Internet. These files could be documents or any type of media file.
Dropbox allow users to create special folders on each of their computers or mobile devices which Dropbox synchronises so that it appears to be the same folder (with the same contents) regardless of which computer is used to view it.
Apart from being able to access their files from anywhere, outline two further benefits to the user of storing their files in the cloud compared to storing their files on local storage?
The ability to access your important files anywhere and at anytime so long as you have a device with a connection to the Internet.
No need to backup your data, if it is on the cloud, it can will be backed up automatically by the service you are using, so your data will always be safe.
