Chapter 6a - Liver Flashcards
Areas not covered by peritoneum
- Bare area on post. surface limited by coronary lig. and right triangular lig.
- Groove for IVC b/w caudate lobe and bare area
- Fossa for gall bladder
- Area of attachment of lesser omentum and fissure for lig. venosum
Relations of anterior surface of liver
Xiphoid process
AAW
Diaphragm on each side
Falciform lig. is attached to this surface
Relations of posterior surface of liver
- Diaphragm, Right adrenal gland
- IVC
- Caudate lobe: Crura of diaphragm above aortic opening, Right inf. phrenic A, Coeliac trunk
- Fissure for lig. venosum
- Oesophageal impression
Relations of superior surface of liver
Shows cardiac impression
Diaphragm
Relations of inferior surface of liver
- Gastric impression on left lobe
- Left lobe has raised area that comes into contact with greater omentum: tuber omentale
- Quadrate lobe: lesser omentum, pylorus, first part of duodenum
- Fossa of gall bladder
- Colic impression, renal impression, duodenal impression
Relations of right surface of liver
