Plaque
Large, slightly elevated lesion. Flat surface often topped by scales
Macule
Small flat lesion of a different color than normal pigmentation
Vesicle
Blister containing clear fluid.
Fissure
Small, deep linear cracks or tears in the skin
Nodule
Palpable elevated lesion. Varies in size
Cyst, Fluid-Filled
A nodule filled with either liquid or semi-solid material
Scale
A thickened outer layer of skin that is dry and white in color
Burrow
A tunnel or streak caused by a burrowing organism
Pustule
Elevated lesion. Usually containing purulent exudate
Papule
Small, firm, elevated lesion
Comedo
Mass of sebum blocking the opening of a hair follicle
Ulcer
Cavity with a loss of tissue
Crust
Dry, rough surface of dried exudate or blood
Bulla
Blister containing clear fluid. Larger than a vesicle.
