All members shall use SCBA when;

A
  • Performing interior structural firefighting operations
  • Performing interior structural emergency operations when toxic substances or smoke are present
  • Operating at outside positions where exposed to smoke or toxic substances
  • Operating in confined spaces, as defined in training bulletin MASK
  • If a member of a company, using a SCBA, leaves a contaminated area, he mush be accompanied to a safe area by another member using a SCBA
  • The only maintenance that we can do on the SCBA is O-Ring change and batteries

Hoop Wrapped Cylinder –

A

An aluminum cylinder which is partially wrapped with layers of fiberglass. The fiberglass wrapping starts at the widest portion of the cylinder neck and ends just before the flat bottom. The neck and bottom of the cylinder are not wrapped.

Pressure Reducer Assembly (PRA) -

A

Reduces the operating pressure to 100 PSI before entering the regulators low pressure hose. The regulator then controls the pressure within the face piece to slightly above atmospheric

A

The low pressure hose conveys breathing air from the pressure reducer assembly to the regulator assembly. Pressure within this hose is around 100 PSI.
