Chapter 6 Process Flashcards
What are the lifecycle phases of a DSDM project?
1) Pre-project
2) Feasibility
3) Foundations
4) Evolutionary development
5) Deployment
6) Post project
1) What does the Pre-project phase do?
the Pre-Project phase ensures that only the right projects are started, and that they are set up correctly, based on a clearly defined objective.
2) What is the purpose of the Feasibility phase?
The Feasibility phase is intended to establish whether the proposed project is likely to be feasible from a technical perspective and whether it appears cost-effective from abusiness perspective
3) What is the purpose of the Foundations phase?
To establish a fundamental (but not detailed) understanding of the business rationale for the project, the potential solution that will be created by the project, and how development and delivery of the solution will be managed.
The Foundations phase can be revisited even after the Deployment phase (eg: where an unexpected outcome is produced).
The Foundations phase aim is to understand the scope of work, how it will be carried out, by whom and where.
The Foundation phase also determines the DSDM project life cycle by determining how DSDM processes will be applied to the needs of the project
Which two project phases can be combined?
The Feasibility phase and the Foundations phase
4) What is the purpose of the Evolutionary development phase?
It’s purpose is to evolve the solution.
4) What practices must the SD Team apply during the Evolutionary development phase?
-Iteriative development
-time boxing
-MoSCoW prioritisation
All together with modelling and facilitated workshops. This ensures that the right business solution is developed in the right technical manner.
Tested must be applied continuously
5) Describe the Deployment phase?
Bring a baseline of the evolving solution into operational use. Subsets of the solution of the entire solution can be deployed. eg: a business change, a partially completed intranet
5) What three activities exist in the Deployment phase?
1) Assemble: This brings together what is to be released. It may encompass assembling different elements of a solution, combining new business processes, a schedule of training, user guides and a new IT solution
2) Review: This could be as simple as a checklist or as formal as a go/no go decision/checkpoint. The Team also conducts a retrospective review to shape improvements for future increments
3) Deploy: putting what has been assembled into operational use. eg; moving to prod
6) What is the Post Project phase used for?
the Post-Project phase checks how well the expected business benefits have been met. One or more benefit assessements are produced in line with the business case
