Q

Describe and explain how Japanese military weaknesses and mistakes ended WWII

A

Describe: Japan made a mistake of overextending her empire and having a small army. Thus, Japan found it difficult to defend all its borders, making it easier for enemies to defeat Japan when they attack.
Describe: Japan had to also made a mistake in fighting too many fronts. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbour, she had to fight both the West and 11 year long war with China.
Explain: Thus, Japan had to fight too many fronts but with limited weapons and troops across a huge empire, making it difficult to defend the empire properly. The Allies could coordinate and plan their attacks together on Japan on many fronts, eventually the Japanese lost the war.

Describe: The Japanese found it difficult to obtain raw materials and manpower from conquered territories to support the war. Thus, Japan invaded western colonies and mistreated the local population, killing and making them fear the Japanese. Japan also took precious resources and food and sent it back to Japan to assist in the war efforts.

Explain: The local population realised that the Japanese was treating them worse than the Western colonial masters and fought against the Japanese. Thus, they ended up losing more precious resources and manpower to maintain control over conquered territories, weakening Japan and making it easier for the Allies to defeat Japan

Q

Describe and explain how USA participating the war led to end of WWII

A

USA was an industrialised, wealthy and powerful country with vast resources and manpower. With Nazi Germany becoming more dangerous, US president persuaded the government to aid her allies in Europe by allowing Britain and France to buy arms from US on a ‘cash and carry’ basis and pass the Lend-Lease Act to aid Britain militarily when British resources were nearly depleted. The US and her allies were producing 2200 barrels of oil compared to Germany’s six million barrels. USA was producing twice the amount of war materials than Germany and Japan combined.

Q

Describe and explain how a power vacuum in Europe and the rise of the two superpowers led to the start of WWI

A

European powers are weakened after WWII as lands were damaged and had huge debts to pay. Their economies and militaries were bad and unable to provide a strong leadership in Europe, resulting in a power vacuum. USSR and USA were the strongest countries after WWII. US economy and military were strong as they had the atom bomb. USSR had the biggest military and alot of natural resources despite being badly damaged.

Explain : since alot of rebuilding is needed in Europe, USSR and USA had a chance to assert their dominance in Europe. Thus, they began to compete to gain more control, resources and people in Europe. The competition over influence in Europe led to tensions and conflicts between both superpowers and led to the Cold war.
