supports body, protects soft body parts, produces blood cells, stores minerals and fat, permits flexible movement

old tissue, minerals, puts back together. cuts off unhealthy bone when you break a bone
What are the four steps in healing a broken bone?
- Hematoma - blood clot
- fibrocartilaginous callus - tissue repair begins
- boney callus
- remodeling
How does the skeletal system maintain homeostasis?
bones assist in all areas of respiration;
protect organs
store and release calcium (help regulate cellular metabolism)
assist in digestion
