Minute ventilation
The amount of air pulled into the lungs and removed from the lungs in one minute
Alveolar ventilation
The exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide that occurs in the alveoli
Steps in airway assessment
Check for responsiveness
Cores blocked airway with head tilt-chin lift or jaw-thrust
Check airway for fluids, foreign bodies, or dentures
Correct airway using finger sweeps or suction
Maintain the airway manually, with oral or nasal airway, or place patient in the recovery position
External cardiac compressions
A means of apply info artificial circulation by applying rhythmic and relaxation on the lower half of the sternum
Pulse oximeter
A machine that consist of a monitor and a sensor probe that measures oxygen saturation in the capillary beds
Nasal cannula
Clear plastic tube, used to deliver oxygen, that fits in the patient’s nose
Cyanosis
Blue skin
