Chapter 6- A Tour Of The Cell Flashcards
1
Q
Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)
A
A microscope used to study the internal structure of cells by aiming an electron beam through a very thin section of the specimen. In order to view the specimen, atoms of a heavy metal stain it. Instead of using a lens to view the specimen, the TEM uses electromagnets that bend the path of electrons, which then produce an image on a monitor.
