Body mechanics
Defined as the safest and most efficient methods of using your body to gain a mechanical advantage
Lordosis
A extreme of poor posture is the swayback or excessive. Causes extreme stress in the lumbar region of the back
Kryphosis
Known as slouch
Power lift
The technique that offers you the best defense against injury and protects the patient with a safe and stable move
Power grip
Get maximum force from the hands palms and fingers should come in complete contact with the object and all fingers should be bent same angle
Emergency move
Should be performed when there is immediate danger to the patient or to the rescuer
Urgent move
Performed when the patient is suffering an immediate threat to life and the patient must be moved quickly and transported with care
Nonurgent move
A move with no immediate threat to life exists and the patient can be moved in a normal manner when ready for transport
