How did the two sides in the American Revolution differ?
One side were the patriots which supported America. The others were the Loyalists who supported Britain. The Quakers were neutral.
How did the Continental Army fare in the early battles of war?
The Continental Army was faring badly with 2.5 million poorly trained soldiers compared to 8 million highly trained soldiers for the British.
What key factors led to the American victory in Sara toga?
The victory was made mainly because of the leadership of George Washington, and the surprise attack on Christmas Day.
Who were the key European allies of the Patriots?
The France were the European allies of the Patriots.
Explain some of the ways the war affected women.
The women wanted to have a place in society as well as the men.
What is a privateer?
A privateer is a privately owned merchant ship.
What is a blockade?
A blockade is a group of people guarding things, not letting anything come in or out.
What role did many Native Americans take during the war in the West?
Many of the Native Americans joined the Patriot cause.
Who was John Paul Jones, and what was his significance in the war?
John Paul Jones helped make Serapis surrender.
What happened during the British campaign in the South?
The patriots were winning several victories.
Describe Washington’s actions leading up to and during the Patriot victory at Yorktown.
Washington was planning a surprise attack on Yorktown. Once Washington ,Rochambeau, and Lafayette’s troops there was nothing General Clinton could do. Once the patriots took over Yorktown with the attack the British thought continuing the war was too costly for them.
What were the key elements to the Patriots’ victory in the war.
First of all, they were on their own land (they knew their way around). Secondly they had better snipers which could shoot twice as far as a British musket. Lastly, they had the leadership of George Washington.
