Kinesics

this is the idea of spatial communication, theories about space and territoriality come about

Emblems
these are substitutes for words; they are body movements that have rather specific verbal translations, such as the nonverbal sign for “OK”
Regulators
monitor, maintain, or control the speaker of another, an example of this is facial expressions and hand gestures indicating “keep going” “slow down”
Social Distance
this distance ranges from 4 feet to 12 feet, you lose the visual detail you had the personal distance, business transactions have a more formal tone than theyh do when conducted in the close phase, in this phase eye contact is essential, otherwise communication is lost. the voice is generally louder at this level, this distance enables you to avoid constant interaction with those with whom you work without seeming rude
Public Distances
ranges from 12 feet to more than 25 feet, at this distance you are able to take defensive action if you should feel threatened, although you lose the fine details of the face and the eyes, you can still see what is happening
Personal Space
this is the distance that allows you to stay protected and untouched by others. This rangers from 18 inches to about 4 feet, you can be touched by extended your arms into the individual’s personal bubble
Intimate Distance
this is the distance ranging from within the close phase of actual touching to the far phase of 6 to 18 inches, the persence of the other person is unmistakable, you experience the sound, smell and breath of the other person. The close phase is used for love making and wrestleing, for comforting and protecting. The faw phase allows people to touch each other by extending
Manipulators
Movements in which one part if the body grooms, massages,rubs, holds, fidgets with,pinches, picks, or otherwise manipulates another part
