Monozygotic Twins
Identical twins sharing 100% DNA
Dizygotic Twins
Non identical twins that share 50% DNA
Have a lower concordance
Prenatal Genetic Testing
Ultrasonography; Amniocentesis; Chronic Villus Sampling
Ultrasonography
Detects the:
Size of fetus
Neural-tube (spinal column and skull)
Skeletal abnormalities
Is used in amniocentesis and CVS
Amniocentesis
Done during the second trimester of pregnancy
Collection of Amniotic fluid (fetal cells)
Test for genetic disorders and birth defects
