Lanham Act
a type of Invasion of privacy in which the plaintiff alleges the defendant used , without consent, the plaintiffs image for commercial purposes or personal gain and caused the plaintiff emotional harm
Misappropriation/ Right of Publicity
A request, often written, asking that a court take some kind of action or make some kind of ruling in a particular legal dispute
Motion
A request, usually written, asking that a court dismiss the plaintiffs case because it is legally insufficient or violates some kind of procedural rule and cannot be successful
Motion to Dismiss
Failure to act with the degree of care that a reasonable person would have used under similar circumstances
Negligence
In copyright and trademark law, a secondary work that intentionally comments upon an original work while necessarily reproducing or parroting all or some of the original content
Parody
A type of expression in which humor, exaggeration, irony, or sarcasm are used to comment upon, ridicule, a criticize aspects of culture
Satire
The ability to file a particular lawsuit based upon a personal stake in the outcome
Standing
An order backed by a court requiring a person to appear in a legal proceeding as a witness or provide materials relevant to the dispute
