A

A

most dogs respond favorably to voice reassurance, squatting in front of dogs to appear less large can help, move slowly and deliberately, offer the back of your hand for dogs to sniff, never grab at the collar or leash or restrain on collar/leash, never try to pick up a dog without reassurance

small dogs - grasp on either side of the thorax behind the elbows
medium dogs - put arms around the front of the chest and behind the rump - avoid the teeth as this technique puts the technician close to the dog’s face

one person method, forklift method, place arms behind the dog’s elbows and in front of the hind legs, if the dog struggles, there is a danger that it can fall forward or backward

Two person method:
