Chapter 6 Flashcards
What are the planes of the body?
What are kigaments, tendons and cartilage?
Ligaments are fibrous tissues that connect bones to each other.
Tendons are ropelike structures that connect muscles to bones.
Cartilage is the smooth connective tissue that covers the ends of bones at mobile joints.
What are the parts of the skull?
What are the parts of the spinal column?
What are the parts of the Thorax?
What are the three types of muscle?
The three types of muscles are:
Skeletal muscle - Attaches to the bones of the skeleton, forms the major muscle mass of the body
Smooth muscle - Found within blood vessels and intestines
Cardiac muscle - Found only within the heart, Is able to create and conduct its own electrical impulse
What is Stroke Volume and Cardiac Output?
Stroke volume (SV) is the amount of blood moved in one beat.
Cardiac output (CO) is the amount of blood moved in 1 minute.
Cardiac output is equal to heart rate times stroke volume.
Mathematically, cardiac output can be expressed as follows: CO = HR × SV
For example: 70 beats/min × 75 mL/beat = 5,250 mL/min or 5.25 L/min
