What you do during a life threatening conditions?

What are examples of a life threating condition?
Unconsciousness.
Not breathing
Trouble breathing.
Severe bleeding
What should you do first when person seems unresponsive?
Shout, using the persons name if you know it.
In case the person does not responded what should you do?
Tap the person’s shoulder or the bottom of the foot and shout again while checking for normal breathing
What are the step to check the Unconscious person vitals?
- Check for responsiveness and breathing for no more than 5 to 10 seconds.
- Look for signs of life and severe bleeding.
- Gasping is not normal breathing.
When a person is unconscious what should you do?
- Send someone to call 9-1-1 or the local emergency number immediately and obtain an AED and First Aid kit.
- Ensure that the person is face-up on a firm, flat surface
- Begin CPR or use an AED if one is immediately available.
What does the acronym SAMPLE stand for?
– S = Signs and symptoms. – A = Allergies. – M = Medications. – P = Pertinent medical history. – L = Last food or drink. – E = Events leading up to the incident.
How do you perform a head to toe examination?
– Tell the person what you are going to do before you begin.
– Avoid asking the person to move if you think the person has a head, neck or spinal injury.
– Avoid asking the person to move any body part where he or she is experiencing discomfort or pain
What is a breathing Barrier?
A resuscitation mask or face shield (also known as a CPR breathing barrier) may reduce the risk of disease transmission between the responder and the victim
What steps are involved with a none life threating condition?
- Interview the victim and bystanders.
2. Check an adult from head to toe or a child from toe to head.
When checking a person look for
- How the person’s skin looks and feels
- Bleeding, cuts, burns, bruising, swelling or deformities
- Medical identification tags
- Ability to move the body part without pain, discomfort or dizziness
Unable or unwilling to move a body part or is experiencing pain, discomfort or dizziness on movement, you should
- Call 9-1-1 or the designated emergency number.
- Help the person rest in a comfortable position.
- Keep the person from getting chilled or overheated.
- Reassure the person by telling the person that you will help and that EMS personnel have been called.
- Give care consistent with your knowledge and training, and continue to watch for changes in the person’s condition.
When should you not transport a victim?
- When the trip may aggravate the injury or illness or cause additional injury.
- When the victim has or may develop a life-threatening condition.
- If you are unsure of the nature of the injury.
What should you do when you can’t transport a victim?
Call 9-1-1 or the local emergency number and wait for help.
