Q

What is the difference between using an alkali and using an insoluble base to make a salt?

A

You can add an insoluble base to excess, as you can then filter it. Where as alkalis, which are also liquid cant be separated, so you use titration

16
Q

What makes alkalis alkali?

A

OH- ions in the solution

17
Q

What do ions H+ and -OH combine to make?

A

Water (This is why acid + alkali = neutral)

18
Q

Negative electrode is called…

A

Cathode

19
Q

Positive electrode is called…

A

Annode

20
Q

Why is heating needed in electrolysis?

A

It breaks the substance into it’s positive and negative ions.
