Operations Management
Consist of all the activities which managers engage to produce a good or service
Service Arm
When a manufacturer produces a good that breaks, so they become a service arm to repair the product
Inputs
Are the resources used in the process of production
Processes
Is the conversion of inputs (resources) into outputs (goods and services)
Outputs
Refer to the end results of the business’ efforts
CAD
Computer Aided Design generates 3D diagrams from a set of given input data
CAM
Computer Aided Manufacturing is a software used to allow the manufacturing process to become more computer directed
CIM
Computer Integrated Manufacturing uses a compromised system to combine CAD and CAM to manage the entire production process
Master Production Schedule
A detailed outline of what is to be produced, in what quantities and when it is going to be produced
JIT
Just In Time is a strategy that ensures the right amount of materials arrive just as they are needed in the operation system
Materials Requirement Planning
Involves developing an itemised list of all materials involved in production to meet the specified orders
Quality
Refers to the degree of excellences of goods or services and their fitness for a stated purpose
Quality Control
Involves the use of inspection at various points in the production process to check for problems and defects
Quality Assurance
Involves the use of a system so that a business achieves set standards in production
Total Quality Management
Is an ongoing, business-wide commitment to excellence that is applied to every aspect of the business’s operation
