Q

Give the manometer equations

A

pressure in torr

  • Pgas = Patm - h (if atm is pushing in)
  • Pgas = Patm + h (if gas is pushing out)

h = cm (if atmospheric pressure in atm) / 76 cm

Q

Define: Boyle’s Law

A

• pressure and volume are inversely proportional

  • temperature and number of moles (n) are unchanged
  • A plot of V vs 1/P should be a straight line with slope k and intercept of zero (y = mx + b)
  • V inverse= 1/P
  • V = k/P (k is a constant at a specific t)
