A

Root: element from which other words formed

prefix: added to front to change meaning

suffix: added to end to change funtion

assimilation?

A

when prefix ends in consonant, and beginning of root starts in consonant then ending of prefix is usually changed

to aid in pronunciation

com+labor+ate = collaborate

A

sometimes first volwel of root is weakend or changed when prefix added

re-capere = receptus –> recipient
