Define Nutrition.
Health branch that stresses the importance of food for growth and development.
Three factors under nutrition.
Adequacy, Balance, Variety.
These are important food substances that help the body function properly.

Macro and Micro
What are Macronutrients?
Nutrients we need in larger quantities. Provides us with energy. Fat, protein, carbohydrates.
What are Micronutrients?
Small quantities only. Vitamins, minerals.
These are composed of amino acids, which are organic compounds. (made of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur.)
Proteins.
Give the qualities of protein. `
Growth building and repairs body tissues.
Maintain muscle mass and strength.
Give at least 5 examples of protein.
Meats, Poultry, Seafood hihi, Dairy, nUtS, Beans
What are carbohydrates?
Mainly sugars and starches that the body breaks down into glucose. Main source of energy.
Glucose is a simple form of ____ that the body converts into energy.
Sugar.
It is the sugar stored in liver and muscles.
Glycogen.
Milk, bread/rice, potato/corn, soda, cookies, chocolates are examples of?
Carbohydrates.
A type of nutrient, and just like protein and carbohydrates. Our body needs it for energy, to absorb vitamins, and to protect heart and brain health.
Fats.
Give 2 qualities of fats.
Needed for immune system function and it helps the body store and use vitamins.
Provides energy for long endurance events.
Red meat, dairy products, chicken skin, butter, ice cream, lard are examples of?
Fats.
What is water HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH lol
Substance composed of chemical elements and oxygen. One of the most plentiful and essential of compounds.
Use of water.
Waste removal, regulates body temp, cushions spinal cord and joints.
Examples of water rich food?
Cucumber, Tomatoes, Spinach , Broccoli, Orange, Apple.
