How did the British gain French territory in North America
They gained French territory in North America by the defeat of the French and the British control left in North America. A war began in 1753 called the French and Indian war. The French wanted to claim the land between the Ohio river and Lake Erie. The Governor of Virginia sent soldiers to warn the French and a man named George Washington was that leader. The French refused to back off anyways. They later started building on that land and the British weren’t happy. The troops later attacked the small forts and the dispute later grew larger and larger. The British then tried to form an alliance with the Iroquois to help or else they threatened to kill them, but they teamed up with the French instead because the expected the French to win the war. The British just decided to fight alone and lost many times because of General Edward Beddock’s strategy. They kept trying and finally defeated the British with the help of new generals sent from the Prime Minister ,and won the war. After the win, the British expanded and kept power over the colonies.
