(December 1773) Group of colonists in protest of the Tea Act dressed as Natives, snuck on docked boats. Dumped hundreds of chests of tea into Boston Harbor. Today worth more than 4 million dollars.

A

Virginia Royal Governor offers freedom to any enslaved man who would join the British Army. Colonists shocked their own slaves were being rallied to kill them.

American and French forces trap British Army. French provided artillery, soldiers, ships. Cut off British sea supplies and cut off ability to escape. General Cornwallis surrenders 1/4 of British Army soldiers.

A

British finally recognized United States independence. Boundaries set out towards the Mississippi River. Promise to treat Loyalists well.
