means making notes on something you’re reading
why is annotating important ?
It’s important because it helps you process what you’re reading to recall in the future .

creates meaning using two or more modes

Written words , Visuals , Audio , Movement , and Expressions
What is an example of written word multimodal text ?
paragraphs, sentences , individual words , titles , captions , and footnotes
What is an example of a visual element multimodal text ?
images , illustrations , color design, layout , and spacing
What is are examples of audio elements of multimodal text ?
spoken language , sound effects , music , volume of sound , and silence
What are examples of movement in multimodal text ?
Speed of movement , lack of movement , and interaction between people and objects
What are examples of expressions in multimodal text ?
Physical behavior , facial expressions , and emotions conveyed through gestures
What is logos ?
is the use of facts , numbers , statistics , reasoning based on evidence and other forms of objective information top support a claim
What are logical appeals ?
logos , pathos , and ethos
what is pathos ?
draws on readers emotional responses and deeply held values to make an argument stronger
What is Ethos ?
Reflects the writers credibility
What are the limits of logos ?
messages that relay too heavily on facts or statistics or that work hard to remain completely objective are sometimes so dry and boring that they fail to hold readers attention
what are the limits of ethical appeal ?
relying exclusively on ones ethos to build a case is a risky move . A critical audience will not accept a claim only because the speaker encourages them to do so .
what is a logical fallacy ?:
Occurs when the evidence provided does not support the claim .
