Brain’s prefrontal cortex
controls your most complex thinking actions - its last and most comprehensive development from around 18-25 years of age.
Executive function
is what allows people to perceive possible future consequences of a choice, weigh the pros and cons of the consequences of different choices, and take the risk of putting one to work, based on what seems to offer the greatest reward.
What is thinking?

How can you improve your analytical thinking skills?
- Gather information
- Break information into tow parts (main ideas & supporting evidence
- Examine & evaluate those two parts
- Make connections
How do you break information into parts
- Read the questions.
- Separate ideas – find the main idea or arguments.
- Identify the evidence.
How can you improve your creative thinking skills?
- Combining existing elements in an innovative way
- Generating analogies—comparisons based on a resemblance of things otherwise unlike—from looking at how things are related
- Pondering a longstanding problem
How can you define creativity?
Basically, to think creatively is to generate new ideas that promote useful change
Gather Five Ingredients of Creativity
- Belief that you can develop creativity
- Receptiveness (accept) to new ideas
- Comfort with time alone
- Risk-taking and hard work
- Acceptance of mistakes as part of the process
How can you improve your practical thinking skills?
By making things happen. (You’ve analyzed a situation, you’ve come up with ideas, with practical thinking you make things happen)
why is college and your brain an ideal team
Because it helps you solve problems and make decisions
