Expressions of Volition
The subjunctive is required in a dependent clause when the verb in the main clause indicates volition, intention, wish, or preference
What are some typical “volition” verbs?
querer, desear, prohibir, sugerir, preferir, and aconsejar

Verbs of communication
Sometimes verbs of communication like decir, telephonear and escribir indicate volition
When do verbs of communication not call for the subjunctive?
When it merely introduces a fact
Verbs of Influence
The subject of the main verb tries to exert some sort of influence over the subject of the subordinate clause in the performance of an action
Also allows an alternate infinitive construction
Typical verbs of influence?
dejar, hacer, impedir, invitar a, mandar, obligar a, permitir, and prohibir
Verbs of emotion
Dependent clause when the verb in the main clause expresses feelings or emotion: regret, fear, pity, hope surprise

Expressions of Uncertainty
When the verb in the main clause expresses doubt , disbelief, uncertainty, or denial.
Most common expressions of uncertainty?
no (poder) creer, dudar, no estar seguro de, negar
Expressions of uncertainty extra conditions?
When there is no change in subject it often takes the infinitive

with que normally requires subjunctive
