What us a noun clause?

A

A clause that has the same function as a noun, that is, it can be used as the subject or object of the sentence

Ex: The fact that Ramon is not here (= Ramon’s absence) bothers me
Ex: I want you to help me (=your help)

What is a relative or adjectival clause?

A

Describes/modifies a noun

Ex: I am looking for a car that doesn’t cost much (=cheap)

What are adverbial clauses?

A

Modify the verb as adverbs do. Answer “where? how? why?”

Ex: He got up (how?) without anyone helping him
Ex: We’ll give him your message (when?) as soon as he arrives
