Chapter 4 Flashcards

1
Q

how to use the node voltage equation

A

 Select a reference node
 Assign a node voltage to each node
 Write KCL equations for each node except the
reference node
 Setup a matrix of equations and solve for the
unknown variables

Q

supernode

A

is used to avoid introducing an ad-hoc
current variable in writing KCL equations when a
voltage source is connected between two nodes
neither of which is the reference node
- When two nodes are connected by a voltage source
(independent or dependent) they combine into a
supernode for writing KCL equations

Q

supermesh

A
  • A supermesh is used to avoid introducing an ad-hoc
voltage variable in writing KVL equations when two
    meshes share a current source
  • When two meshes share a current source (independent
or dependent) they combine into a supermesh for
    writing KVL equations
