What is values clarification in the therapeutic relationship?

A

A method for discovering one’s values and the importance of those values
-7 steps:
1-3: Choosing (cognitive process)- choosing freely; from alternatives; after careful considerations of potential outcomes
*4-5: Prizing (affective/emotional process)- being happy w/ personal beliefs and actions; affirming the choice in public
*6-7: Acting (behavior)- acting out the choice; repetition
