Q

Methods for gathering information for a process map

A

-Self generate interview method: A person performing part of the process is the one who prepares the process map
-One on one interview method Dash each stakeholder in the process is interviewed separately and sequentially
- group interview method – a non-biased person or team will hold discovery sessions where everyone involved in the process is asked to participate. Usually most effective method.

Q

Steps for creating a process map

A

Step one:know your purpose
step two define the scope: determine the process boundaries. Identify the trigger event and termination.
Step three: identify process stakeholders and draw a swim lien for each.
Step four: perform a process walk-through. A walk-through of the process is where the modeling team follows the process flow from beginning to end.
Step five: map the process using agreed-upon notation.
Step six: validate the process map and finalize.
