It is a process of working through staff members to be able to provide comprehensive care to the client. That includes planning, organizing, directing, and controlling.
Nursing Management
A mental ability to view the organization as a whole and understand how the different parts are interdependent.
Conceptual skills
An interaction with the intention to understand the patient’s concern, experiences and opinion.
Interpersonal skills
Proficiency in performing an activity in the correct manner with the correct technique.
Technical skills
Refer to ideas, concepts or principle
Knowledge factors
Refer to beliefs, feelings, and values
Attitude factors
Refer to skills, art, judgment and wisdom
Ability factors
Manager shows as a: symbol (signing of papers), facilitator (hires, trains, encourages, fires, remunerates and judges), liaison (link to community, suppliers and other organization)
Interpersonal roles
The manager: directs, involve and approved decision
Leadership roles
Present the manager as: one who monitors information, dissimenates information from both external and internal sources.
Informational role
The manager is: an entrepreneur or innovator- involvement with constant addition or deletion of new projects. A trouble shooter- attention to problems rising out.
A negotiator- ranges from negotiation of an argument to negotiation.
Decision roles
The manager: allocates the budgets, time and information

Nursing assistant
The nursing directors, chief nurses, their assistants. Manages and looks at the organization as a whole and overall operations. Establish objectives and represents the organization.
Top- level manager
Nursing supervisors. Coordinates with top and first level/ activities to the unit. Directs and implement activities.
Middle level manager
Head nurses, senior nurses, charge nurses and team leader. Concerned with specific unit’s work flow. Link with the top and non-managers. Deals with immediate problems in the unit’s daily operations, with organizational needs, and with personal needs of employee.
First level manager
Why managers fail to plan effectively?
- Lack of knowledge regarding the philosophy, goals and objectives if the agency.
- Lacks understanding regarding the significance of the planning process
- Do not know how to manage thier time.
