chapter 4 Flashcards
point of orgin
place where all transformation are executed in relation to a fixed point.
4 basic methods for making transformations
click transformation tools
2 click the transformation tool
transformation then art board
transform tool press alt then dartboard.
free transform
applies an 8 handled bounding box to selected image
transform panel
displays info about the size, orientation and location of one or more selected objects.
X and Y coordinates
indicate objects horizontal X and vertical Y locations on dartboard.
sheer tool
hidden behind the scale tool - shears at an angle.
concentric
referes to objects that share same center point.
outline stroke command
converts a stroke path into a closed path that’s the same width as the original stroked path.
compound shapee
two or more paths that are combined in such a way that “holes” appear where ever paths overlap.
pathfinders
group of present operations that help you combine paths in a variety of ways.
add to shape area
converts two or more overlapping objects into a single merged object.
subtract from shape area
where objects overlap.
intersect shape area
creates a single merged object from the area where two or more objects overlap.
minus back
the opposite of subtract deletes the back most object from the frontmost object.
divide
divides an object into its component filled faces.
transformation
when you change an objects size, shape, or position on the art board.
5 transformation tools
rotate, scale, reflect, shear, and free transform tools.
reflect
flips object across axis - good for tracing symmetrical objects like a spoon.
shear
skews or distorts an object - good for depth.
transform each
goof for transformations multiple objects individually.
offset path command
creates a copy of a selected path set off by a specified distance.
pathfinders
are good for creating complex or irregular shapes from basic shapes.
align panel
offers a quick and simple solution for aligning selected objects along the axis when you specify
clipping mask
in object menu: window through which you view some or all of the objects behind the mask in stacking order like putting a picture inside a text.
