Chapter 4 Flashcards
place where all transformations are executed in relation to a fixed point
Point of origin
4 basic methods for making transformations
*click transform tools - then click and drag anywhere on dartboard
*double click the transform tool
*click transform tool then click the dartboard
*click transform tool - press alt then click artboard
applies an eight handled bounding box to selected image
free transform
displays info about the size, orientation, and location of one or more selected objects
transform panel
indicate objects on horizontal x and vertical y locations on artboard
x and y coordinates
hidden behind scale tool - shears at an angle
shear tool
refers to objects that share the same center point
concentric
converts a stroked path in to a closed path that is same width as the original stroked path
outline stroke command
two or more paths that are combined in such a way that “holes” appear where ever paths overlaps
compound shape
group of preset operations that help you combine paths in a variety of ways
pathfinders
converts two or more overlapping objects into a single merged object
add to shape area
where objects overlap
subtract from shape area
creates a single merged object from the area where two or more objects overlap
intersect shape area
the opposite of subtract: deletes the backmost object from the frontmost object
minus back
divides an object into its component filled faces
divide
when you change an objects size shape or position on the art board, it is a
transformation
transformation tools
rotate scale reflect shear and free transform tools
flips object across axis - good for tracing symmetrical object like a spoon
reflect
skews pr distorts am pinkest - good for depth
shear
good for transforming objects individually
transform each
creates a copy of a selected path set off by a specified distance
offset path command
good for creating complex or irregular shapes from basic shapes
pathfinders
offers a quick and simple solution for aligning selected objects along the axis you specify
align panel
in object menu: window through which you view some or all of the objects behind the mask in stacking order - like putting a picture inside text
clipping mask
