political ideology that prioritizes attachment to one’s natin
bureacracy
collection of orgs (military, diplomatic corps, intel agenecies, etc) that carry out most governancy w/in state
interest groups
groups of individuals w common interests that organize to influence public policy in way that benefits members
rally effect
people’s tendencies to become more supportive of country’s government in times of dramatic international events (ie crisises and wars)
diversionary incentive
incentive that rulers have to start international crisises in order o rally public support @ home
military-industrial complex
alliance between military leader and industries that benefit from international conflict (ie arms manufacturers)
democratic peace
observation that mature democratic countries often don’t go to war/conflict with each other
democracy
political system where there are frequent and fair elections of leader that is in office based on the opinion/approval from population
autocracy
political system where there are unfair/no elections in place so an individual or small group of people end up benefitting from no constraints
