Effects of sleep deprivation
Diminished productivity, irritability, fatigue

Immune system suppression
Slows reaction time and increases errors
Major sleep disorders
Insomnia, Narcolepsy, Sleep Apnea, Night Terrors, Sleepwalking, Sleeptalking, restless leg syndrome, SIDS, REM sleep disorder
Purpose of dreaming
satisfy wishes, informative process, memories left, neural activity
Lucid dreaming
experience of becoming aware that one is dreaming
substance abuse/addiction and reasons for addiction
biological factors, psychological factors, social/cultural factors
Issues of studying drug abuse
dont always get honest results and depends on type of survey given (online or in person)
Basic types of drugs
stimulants (caffeine, cocaine, nicotine), depressents (alcohol, barbituates), opiates (heroin, oxy, fentaynl), hallucinogens (marijuana, LSD)
Hypnosis
helpful in pain relief, not accurate in recalling memories, vary in suggestibility
Meditation
various forms, lowers metabolism and HR, decreases blood lactate
