Because he was tutored by Aristotle who taught him public speaking, science, and philosophy.

It contributed because Phillip knew that the Greeks were weak and divided, so he took advantage.
How did Alexander plan to build his empire?
Using terror and kindness:
Terror = burn any city down who refused to surrender, people would be sold into slavery
Kindness = any city that surrendered would keep their government officials and he would help rebuild damaged property

Empire size = hard to conquer, very powerful
Problem = hard to control
