Coronal Plane
Vertical plane that divides the body into front and back sections. Also called the frontal plane.
Midsagittal Plane
Vertical field running through the body from front to back at the mid-line, dividing the body equally into left and right halves.
Sagittal
Vertical field running through the body from front to back dividing the body into right and left sides
Transverse
Horizontal Field dividing the body into superior and inferior positions.
Fowler Position
Semi sitting position with slight elevation of the knees.
Prone
Lying on the abdomen, face down
Supine
Lying on the back, face up
Umbilical region
Around the naval
Lumbar region
to the right and left of the umbilical region, near the waist
Epigastric region
superior to the umbilical region, generally above the stomach

To the right and left of the epigastric region
