Values represent basic convictions that aspecific mode of conduct or end state of existence is personally or socially prefereable to an opposite mode of conduct or endstate of existence

- extent to which the culture favours traditional masculine roles versus viewing men and women as equals
- high masculinity rating means the culture has separate roles for men and women

- extent to which a culture values thrist, persistence, and tradition versus the here and now
- long term orientation - less acceptance of change
