Achievement Tests
Designed to measure what the student has learned; measure test performance in a specific area or across several areas
Screening tests
Brief tests containing items that survey a range of skill levels, domains, or content areas; used to determine weak areas
Aptitude tests
Measure what a student has retained and are designed to indicate how much the student will learn in the future
Diagnostic tests
Measure specific ability (fine motor skills)
Norm-referenced tests
Measure academic achievement; used to make eligibility decisions; used to compare a student to a norm group tk determine if the student is performing as expectef for their age or grade
Curriculum based assessment
Tests student using the curriculum they encounter in the classroom; used to determine mastery of skills or specific curriculum
