Coparenting
Was originally used to describe the ideal parenting relationship following divorce, whereby both parents were involved in all decisions regarding their children.
Egalitarian Relationships
Is where childcare and household responsibilities are generally shared and is one explanation for the positive adjustment of children of same sex parents.
Acculturation
Is the process by which members of one cultural group adopt the behaviors and beliefs of another culture group.
Transnationalism
Is making adjustments to a new culture while simultaneously maintaining connections to their country of origin.
Language Broker
Is when children translate and interpret for their parents that do not speak or understand English.
Linguistic Bands
Is when two or more people in a family speak the same language and it is beneficial to a child.
