How are the seals in plug type doors pressurised?
With bleed air from the engines
What type of doors are cargo doors?
Latch and lock mechanism doors that a hinged from the top, opening outwards.
What are the requirements for flight deck windows?
They must have excellent optical qualities
be sealed securely to withstand cabin pressurisation forces
withstand stresses imposed by temperature difference
withstand significant impacts without braking
have a de-ice/anti-ice facility
What is the composition of an A/C windscreen?
2 outer layers glass/acrylic
inner layer vinyl
conductive coating between outside panel and inner vinyl to allow heating.
What are side windows usually made of and why?
acrylic to reduce weight
What does CS-25 require for A/C equipped with direct vision windows?
The windows must be designed to either slide back or to open inwards
be large enough to be used as a means of emergency escape.
What does CS-25 require regarding pilot eye level setting?
It requires that the A/C be fitted with aids to ensure both pilots set their eye position to the correct point.
What type of windows are fitted in the cabin?
Plug type.
