Social Structure
Invisible persistent patterns that make individuals similar/relate in a society
Socialization
Act of taking values and practices from culture by learning about it
Ethnocentrism
Having a better perception of one’s own culture while simultaneously viewing unfamiliar aspects of other cultures negatively
Mores
Serious norms that are adhered to in a society and quickly punished
Folkways
Norms that are similar to everyday rules and are usually up for interpretation (meaning that the most you may get is a stare or laughter)
Cultural Relativism
Lense to view ideas and actions in the eyes of those practicing the beliefs.
Symbolic Interactionism
micro level theory arguing self develops through symbolic communication with others
