-John Dickinson, 1767
Discusses his grievances on the Townsend Acts and how they destroy colonist liberties. States that the colonies have always depended on Britain and acknowledged that they are parts of a whole, but he says that taxes before now were never imposed for the purpose of raising revenue.

Says that all men are created equal and deserve rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Government is created by man to assert these rights but when a government becomes destructive and corrupt it must be destroyed. It then continues on with a list of grievances the colonies have concerning the Britain.

Nationalistic call for action, saying that tyranny is hard to conquer but the harder it is the more glorious the triumph. Also says that those who don’t abandon the fight will forever be remembered. He states that the only power we should be bound to is God and that freedom is worth fighting for. Concludes with some descriptions of the colonies war efforts.
