Chapter 3, Lesson 3: Domains and Kingdoms Flashcards
How are organisms classified into domains and kingdoms?
Organisms are placed into domains and kingdoms based on their cell type, their ability to make food, and the number of cells in their bodies.
What are the three domains?
Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.
What is a unicellular organisms whose cells lack a nucleus called?
Prokaryotes.
What are some similarities archaea and bacteria?
Both are unicellular and are both autotrophs and heterotrophs.
What is the difference between archaea and bacteria?
The differences are that they have different structure of their cells and their chemical make up is different.
What are organisms with cells that contain a nucleus?
Eukaryotes.
What four kingdoms are part of the domain Eukarya?
Protists, fungi, plants, and animals.
Plants are multicellular or unicellular, and prokaryotic or eukaryotic?
Multicellular eukaryotes.
What’s one difference between animals and plants?
Plants are autotrophs and animals are heterotrophs.
What is the protist kingdom sometimes called?
“Odds and ends “ kingdom.
What is any eukaryotic organism that cannot be classified as a fungus, plant, or animal?
Protists.
All fungi are heterotrophs. True or false?
True.
